Where to go

I'm sure you will find places like Tienanmen square, Temple of heaven, forbidden city yourself but their are some other "less known" places that are not so touristy but really worth visiting.

Markets

Mingle with the local treasure hunters at Panjiyuan antique market or Baogusi antique market.

Parks

Sing and dance with the locals in Ritan Park or JingShan park.

Beijing underground city

For those interested in seeing the Beijing Underground City, the address is 62 West Damochang Street, Qianmen, tel. 6702-2657. Apparently, there is another site in Beijing Qianmen Carpet Factory at 44 Xingfu Dajie, Chongwen District, tel. 6701-5079 and a lesser known one at 18 Dazhalan Jie in Qianmen.

Where not to go

Like most Chinese City's Beijing is a very safe place. Just be aware of some scams.
The tea house scam (around forbidden city):Young people will invite you to have a drink with them, telling you they want to improve their English or make some foreign friends. You will leave the place with a 1000￥bill.
The coffee scam (around wang fu jing):
Same thing like the tea house scam but the price for a coffee is will be 80￥ and the tea for your beautiful company 100￥

Badaling Great Wall

We Don't recommend going there. It is just toooo crowded. But if you really want to go take No. 919 at Deshengmen Gate. The nearest subway station to Deshengmen Gate is Jishuitan Station (subway line 2), which is about 450 meters away.
