Great Wall Camping

Take your favorite bottle of liquor and together with some good friends go and enjoy one of the best traveling experiences of your life. Camping overnight at the Great Wall, you can look up at a sky full of glittering stars. This nighttime Great Wall makes one feel like being in a cradle, its ancient body kindly embracing us. This place has seen the blood and tears of war, and also a thousand years of solitude. Perhaps like us, you are nothing but an adventurous, youthful vigor. Perhaps like us, you love to gaze at the shooting stars and tell stories till sunrise. In the morning you wake to another beautiful clear day, footprints and the echoes of laughter are the only things left behind.

If you d like to see a really wild part of the great wall than this Cheng castle is your spot. A while ago Some friendly village kids helped us finding the right track to the Great Wall trough their farmlands. The first part of this hike we will walk on the ancient Great Wall where will also have a small lunch. After lunch hour we will have to side track a bit when the wall plunges down into a valley. Climbing out of the this valley up and next to the Great Wall you surely start thinking what an effort it most have been to build this one! The top of this great Wall will also be our camping place for this night. Let's have a dinner here and a drink or 2 here and watch the sun slide behind the mountains. After breakfast we will do easy hiking trough the fields to the other side of the second mountain range where our driver will pick us up again.

Don’t forget to bring:
flash light, water, sun screen and a hat, some snack like energy bars, nuts,... At the meeting point we will provide you with lunch packets, tents and sleeping bags so a big backpack (50-60l) is needed. (If you sign up with 2 people: 1 big and 1 medium backpack is enough)

Backgroud info

Chen castle was once the gateway for the army of Liziching, the man who made an end to the Ming Dynasty. Lizhiching tried to get to Beijing many times but only succeeded to break the lines on this wall.
