Great Wall Hiking

In Beijing Municipality, the Great Wall expands over 630km. Except for about 50km of the Great Wall developed for tourism at scenic spots like Badaling and Simatai, the majority of the wall is still left untouched, making it extraordinarily well-preserved. ChinaHiking will guide you to those most remote and long deserted parts of the Wild Great wall.

Hike the Shui Changcheng( Water Great Wall)1 day

This flat Great Wall  trail curls trough the valley of a  national park site with stunning scenery. The beautiful Shui Changcheng (Water Great wall )is nicely restored, surrounded by impressive mountains and of course… lots of water. After lunch at a local restaurant we start the hike on a paved trail in the national park. The surroundings are really stunning as the Great Wall curls on the mountain ridges and drops into the lake. We wouldn’t be China Hiking if we didn’t take you off  the beaten path and hike another 5km in the nature. There are a few interesting trails we can take from here.

If you are fit we can climb the Wild Great Wall. During the winter we walk on a frozen river to a local artist living in the next valley. 3Th option is one for spring where we can follow another river and go stone hopping and boulder climbing for a while. All up to you. At our finish point our driver will pick us up again.

History of the Shui changcheng Great Wall:

The Shui Changcheng Great Wall is a popular tourist resort for local people. It connects with Huanghuacheng, Zhuangdaokou  and Erdaoguan in the east and Longquanyu in the west. There are many hotels, farm houses, and restaurants here as well as activities like boat rides and scenic walkways. But the main attraction for you is of course the Great Wall. There are many places where you can see the Great Wall here, and the views are impressive with high mountains and water all around.
