“A good trip”

From zhang    Oct 01 2013
It was last October we went to the Great Wall. The tour was amazing! The scenery was good and can not be seen in the city, and few people were there. And the guide was so kind and introduced a lot of historical stories . All my family enjoyed the trip and we had a wonderful time .

“Amazing hiking trip”

From Rebecca B Manchester, United Kingdom    Sep 25 2013
This trip was the highlight of our holiday in China. We hiked along an unrestored part of the wall a few hours from Beijing, where the views were amazing and there were no other tourists. We had a good lunch at a local restaurant before starting, and a nice BBQ dinner by the wall. The equipment provided was good quality, keeping us dry during th...

“There and back again”

From Dorota M Beijing, China    Sep 20 2013
We renewed contact with Fred and Heidi for a family visit. It was just as great as the previous trip, with incredibly lovely weather on top. Fred and Heidi squeezed us in a very busy schedule and even arranged the hiking plans last minute to accommodate the needs of our toddler and our 5 year old who had suffered a bad ankle sprain the previous ...

“Get out of the Beijing smog and join Fred and Heidi for a hike !!!!”

From kworm Sydney, Australia    Sep 15 2013
It is absolutely amazing that at a stonethrow from one of the worlds most populous cities, in the worlds most populous country, on one of the world's most famous monuments, it is possible to walk for three days in gorgeous nature without meeting anyone, and hardly even see signs of humans at all. My hike with Fred and Heidi was definitely the hi...

“Awesome Experience!”

From Altamont, New York    Sep 10 2013
My husband and I didn't want the typical tourist trip to the Great Wall, we wanted something unique and this certainly fit the bill! Fred ended up being sick, but Heidi did a great job as our guide. The food for lunch was delicious and plentiful, as was the BBQ dinner. It was the perfect way in which to see the wall...there were no other people ...

“Hiking, bbq and sleeping the wall, what more to wish?”

From iBukman    Sep 09 2013
Had a great time at an ancient and unrestored piece of the wall. A proper hike and a very good walk at the wall. When we arrived at camping spot the bbq was allready being prepared and finished the night with a camp fire. Heidi did a good job despite Fred being sick. Well organized. Would reccomend it to everyone!

“Gubeikou Winding Dragon Great Wall hiking and camping”

From melbell Beijing, China    Aug 27 2013
My 10 year old son and I went on this trip, and we both had an excellent time. It was great to see the less touristy portion of the Wall, and Fred and Heidi were great guides. The views were tremendous. We got really lucky with the weather, even saw a rainbow. Fred carried all our bags and had everything set up at the campsite when we got there....

“Best way to see the Great Wall”

From BlakeandLana H    Aug 21 2013
This was the third time I had been to the Great Wall, so I had already gotten over the wonderment of the spectacular engineering achievement. As such my expectations for the trip were low, I was just accompanying some friends who were seeing it for the first time. Boy was I wrong! There is no better way to experience the great wall then a low in...

“Fantastic Weekend Getaway”

From kmcclear Beijing, PRC    Aug 21 2013
After living three years in Beijing, it was the perfect weekend escape for me and my boyfriend to rediscover the beauty of rural Beijing. Fred and Heidi are incredibly accommodating and well-travelled; thus, making the trip even more memorable and refreshing. I recommend this tour without any hesitation. Plus, back to Beijing by Sunday afternoon...

“Once in a lifetime experience / General Xu Great Wall camping trip”

From paranoid-android Amsterdam, The Netherlands    Aug 11 2013
I was in Beijing for a business trip, with a weekend thrown in to do some cool stuff. long story short after spending a week in the heat, hustle & bustle of Beijing, working and failed internal flights, I found myself waiting on Friday afternoon for a delayed plane in an airport elsewhere and decided to look for a hiking trip around Beijing to t...

A Lovely Trip

From Rob Miller    Jul 23 2013
I recently returned to my adopted city of Shanghai after a short trip to Beijing and an excellent two day camping experience organized by Fred and Heidi of Dandelion Hiking. After living in China for over a year and as someone whose idea of an off-the-beaten-path experience is a long canoe trip to a semi-remote part of Ontario I was a little ske...

“A walk on the wild side”

From Camilla    Jul 09 2013
We booked this trip on a whim to get out of Beijing after bad week of heat and pollution, and found we had stumbled on the best hiking trip to the Great Wall. Small is beautiful, and Heidi and Fred, the organisers, seem to keen to keep it that way. Coupled with their fine attention to detail and their warm and generous personalities, you feel li...

Smiley happy people

From Camilla    Jul 01 2013
That's what we were after our weekend walking the Great Wall. Fred and Heidi are real gems, can not imagine a better more enjoyable way to see this magnificent scenery. Our kids age 12 and 9 loved it all.

“Don\'t bother to read this...just go book it!”

From Jwgourley Ottawa, Canada    Jun 11 2013
The truth is if you want a great wall experiences that is hot, crowded and not that enjoyable then you shouldn’t book this trip. If you want an experience of a lifetime that will let you have a personal and up-close experience with a part of history then you should book with Dandelion hiking – and say, “Hi” to Fred and Heidi for me!
Although I ...
