Detailed Itinerary
From our meeting point (Lama Temple Subway exit B), we will take you on a 2 hour drive to the border of Beijing and Hubei. The hike starts with a 45 minute hike through the farm fields and over the hill ridges allowing us splendid views over the wild Gubeikou and Jinshanling Great Wall. We follow the trail to our farmhouse friends for a delicious lunch at their authentic courtyard with view on the Wall.
Wild Jinshanling to Simatai Great Wall hiking
After lunch, we continue our hike. Within 20 minutes we set our first steps on the Wild Jinshanling Great Wall. The 10-km long Jinshanling Great Wall shows some amazing defensive features, such as barrier walls, battlement walls, watchtowers, gun emplacements, shooting holes and horse blocking walls.
Wild Jinshanling Great Wall
We hike down on the crumbled section of the Wild Jinshanling for about 30 minutes till we reach the extraordinary well preserved Jinshanling Great Wall https://newzpharmacy.com/. Here you can see how the Great Wall of China looked like during the Ming Dynasty.
Jinshanling Great Wall hike
The last stage of our hike is all the way up on the famous Great Wall staircases. We pass 67 watchtowers and the General Tower with its intoxicating views over miles and miles of Great Wall. We visit 4 more towers on the Simatai Great Wall and take a last spectacular picture of the Fairy Tower, the highest tower on the Simatai Great wall.
Jinshanling Great Wall steep staircases
A small trail through the forest will bring us down the mountain where our faithful driver will be waiting for us. We will be back at our Lama temple meeting point around 7 pm.
Level 2: Medium-strong
Its a long hike that involves a good climb at the end of the hike so we can rate it medium strong. There is a short cut where can avoid climbing up the steepest staircase but even with the shortcut it remains a strong hike so you need at least an average to good physical condition.
