From our meeting point our van will head North East for about 2 hours to the border of Beijing and Hebei province. We start our hike on the west side of the Jinshanling Great Wall and walk through fields and over hill ridges with fantastic views on the Wild Jinshanling Great Wall.
45 minutes into the hike we reach an authentic farmhouse tucked away in a valley right next to Great Wall. The farmhouse family has been living here for 3 generations and will prepare a great lunch for us.
After lunch we set of on a small trail that bring us to an excellent view point. 15 minutes later we are on top of the Wild Great Wall. The 10-km long Jinshanling Great Wall shows some amazing defensive features like barrier walls, battlement walls, watchtowers, gun emplacements, shooting holes and horse blocking walls.
